Mr. Ha Hyung-joo, a gold medalist in judo at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Korea Sports Promotion Organization.
Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Yoo In-chon handed over the letter of appointment to Ha today (Nov. 18) at the Seoul Pavilion of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Ha, who won the first Olympic gold medal in Korean judo history at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in the men's 95-kilogram category, has served as a professor of physical education at Dong-A University and as a permanent auditor of the Korea Sports Promotion Agency.
